License Information:
We will purchase
all the hunting licenses you and your friends need if you wish. It
would be best to send us the money for an elk, deer, or antelope
license (check made out to Craig Sports) just before the 1st
of September. Craig Sports will not have the licenses before then and we
would like to purchase them all before we get really busy with the
arrival of hunters in September. I will not know the cost of these
licenses until the 1st of March--the DOW sometimes changes their
prices from year to year. You can call me after March 1st, or call
Craig Sports at the telephone number listed above for the
prices.
We need ALL of the
following information to purchase licenses:
- Driver's
License Number & State
- Home Telephone Number
- Complete Name
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
- Complete Address
- Sex
- Weight
- Height
- Hunter Education Number (or none) & State
- Copy of your hunter's
safety card
- Copy of your driver's
license
*A Hunters Safety Card is required for anyone born after January 1,
1949. If you were born after January 1, 1949, please send a copy of
your Hunter's
Safety Card with the above information and bring the original with
you when you hunt this fall. Note: Hunter must be at least 12 years
old at the time the license is purchased.
Itinerary
Hunters arrive at Morgan
Creek the night before their hunt begins. We enjoy a large dinner and
everyone retires. The next morning everyone sits down to a pancake,
bacon, and eggs breakfast. Hunters and guides ride out of camp before
dawn to begin their hunt and return to the house before noon for a
bountiful lunch. Everyone takes a break after lunch to rest, watch TV,
or take in the beautiful surroundings. After the break, it’s back out
to hunt until dark. When you return to camp a delicious dinner is
served and everyone can sit around, enjoy the fireplace, have a drink,
and watch television in the house or bunkhouse.
Locating the
Morgan Creek Ranch:
Smith Rancho is approximately ten miles north of Hayden,
Colorado. Upon entering Hayden, Colorado, from the east, drive a
couple of long blocks staying on the same main highway (Hwy 40)
until you enter the downtown area of Hayden (it's
about three long blocks). Turn right when you come to a sign that
points to the California Park Road. The sign is a big green one and
it will be very hard to miss. You will drive about a mile and a half
and go over a small bridge over the Yampa River. Then there's
a fork in the road--turn right again--staying on the California Park
Road (it's
very well marked). Several more miles you will come to another fork
in the road. This time go left (it's
also well marked--CALIFORNIA PARK ROAD). Continue on staying on the
main road until you come to a huge gate on the right marked SMITH
RANCHO, INC. Turn in and continue on the private road--don't
turn left where all the red buildings are--that's the bunkhouse and
headquarters. Our ranch house is located one mile from the
main gate.
Directions
to the Holiday Inn:
(for those arriving after November
the 8th)
Address: 30o S. CO Hwy 13, Craig, Colorado, 81625
Telephone: #970-824-4000
When one enters Craig from Hayden, the two lanes of
Victory Way become three one-way lanes all heading west. After four
or five blocks one comes to a stop light with City Market located on
the right hand side. Here Victory Way now turns back into a two-way
highway. Continue heading west. One will pass Pizza Hut and
McDonalds on the left side and after a few more blocks one will also
pass Walmart on the left. When one comes to a stop light with a huge
Murdoch's Ranch store on the right, turn left onto CO Hwy 13. The
Holiday Inn is visible and located approximately two blocks on the
left.
